Central Medical Services Society (CMSS) has been established with the approval of Cabinet on 24.08.2011 as a Central Procurement Agency (CPA) to streamline drug procurement and distribution system of Department of Health & Family Welfare (DoHFW), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and to eliminate existing deficiencies. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has been implementing various programmes on a national scale in the areas of health, prevention and control of major communicable diseases and promotion of traditional and indigenous systems of medicines. Various drugs, vaccines, contraceptives and medical equipment are being procured by the ministry for the administered programs. Central Medical Services Society, established as a Central Procurement Agency (CPA) to streamline drug procurement and distribution system of Department of Health and Family Welfare (DoHFW), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), has been procuring and distributing medicines and medical supplies for following centrally sponsored programmes.
